Are you aged 4-11? Enjoy writing stories? Then we’ve got the perfect competition for you.
This year it is 100 years since women were first allowed to vote in the UK, after many years of campaigning.
To celebrate we are asking children aged 4-11 to write a short story about either “an inspirational woman in your life” or “a suffragette in your family.” An inspirational woman can be anyone – a family member, celebrity, teacher or other group leader or even your favourite librarian ;)
There are two categories for the competition, 4 – 7 (Key Stage One) and 8-11 (Key Stage Two). The winner in each category will win a Kindle and runners up will win book tokens.
How to enter:
- Hand your story in to a member of staff at any library OR
- Send your story by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com OR
- Post your story to: Suffragette Story Competition, Pike Nook Workshops, Units 10-12, High Street, Bolton, BL3 6JZ
- Please make sure to include your name, age, school year group and contact details with your entry
The closing date for entries is Friday 13th April. The winning stories will be read out at a special Celebration of Women family event in Farnworth Park on Saturday 5th May.
