This figure represents the goddess Isis nursing her son the god Horus. Isis was the wife of Osiris, who once ruled Egypt and then was murdered by his brother Seth.

Isis revived her husband and supported her son Horus to become king of Egypt. Egyptians offered a large number of statues like this to honour the goddess Isis.
