Summer of Mischief and Mayhem

Come along and join in free holiday activities at venues across Bolton Library and Museum Services.

Events are suitable for children aged 4 to 11. The activities are FREE and no need to book unless otherwise stated.  Don't forget to sign the children up to the Summer Reading Challenge and pick up a Mischief Makers Quiz from any library. Dinosaur Mischief & Mayhem

Bolton Central Library and Museum, Saturday 21 July, 1.30pm to 3pm

Come along for a rooooaarrrwwwsome special dinosaur themed Saturday club which will include dinosaur fossil handling, stories, craft and an opportunity to use green screen technology to be transported to a prehistoric world.

Fish Feeds, every Tuesday and Thursday at 1pm

Bolton Aquarium,

Join us on Tuesday and Thursday at 1pm to discover more about our freshwater fish collection with our aquarium experts.

Cinema at the Crescent Holiday specials at Bolton Central Library’s Lecture Theatre

National Playday

Celebrate National Playday on Victoria Square. Bolton Library and Museum Services will be there!

Food and Drink Festival

Friday 24 August to Monday 27 August

Bolton Central Library and Museum will be at the Market Place. We will be organising a feast of events and activities during the town’s Food and Drink Festival.

Smithills Hall 

Fantastic Friday Nature Detective sessions at Smithills Hall

Become a nature detective this summer! Smithills Hall and The Woodlands Trust have got lots of crafts, trails and activities to entertain every young naturalist (as well as the parents!). Join us every Friday during the summer holidays, from 12pm to 1.30pm.

Arrive between 12pm and 1pm and stay as long as you like. The event will close at 1.30pm. Participants are asked to wear appropriate clothing for the outdoors (depending on the weather that day).

Horrid Trick Spider

High Street Library, Monday 23 July, 2pm to 3pm

Listen to a Horrid Henry story and then become a trickster yourself and make two dangling pom pom spiders a cute little money spider and a fearsome tarantula.

Circus skills

Breightmet Library, Monday 20 August

Roll up, roll up to the Breightmet Library big top!

Have a go at juggling, plate spinning and dabble with the diablo! There will be other circus games to play too. Come in fancy dress if you wish.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. This is a free beginners workshop, suitable for children aged 5+.
